Create finished three-dimensional scale and full size models of proposed vehicles and components. Aid in design and engineering problem solving. Work involves considerable creativity, skill and coordination and is performed with other modelers or independently. Has wide latitude for independent judgment with only general supervision. Occasional instruction and training of other modeling personnel.
- Creates new and improves upon existing models using clay sculpting, milling or AliasStudio
- Demonstrates curve and surface creation capabilities for development of "class A" quality surfacing
- Adheres to design and engineering specifications
- Understands program timelines and is proactive regarding task completion
- Independently establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
- Adheres to and assists in developing common processes and best practices
- Mentors others in sculpting techniques and in understanding the vehicle development process
- Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
- Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise
- Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities

Qualifications
Basic Required
- Ability to create finished three-dimensional models to "class A" quality standards utilizing clay sculpting or AliasStudio tools
- Able to contribute to creative and aesthetic solutions
- Highly developed skill in final execution of forms and shapes
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals required
- Creative proficiency with a supporting portfolio
Basic Preferred
- Works with minimal supervision
Education and Training
- College degree with a major in Industrial Design, Sculpture, Ceramics, or computer modeling, Alias preferred, or equivalent training
