Principle Duties and Responsibilities

GM is currently executing an aggressive IT strategy, insourcing staff and migrating to new and emerging technologies.

This fast passed culture requires a flexible employee who is willing to take on many roles, while developing migration and support strategies to meet our growing demands.

This role is primarily an Operations role, but will work closely with the IT engineering and Architecture teams to ensure Operational stability, while supporting aggressive transformation projects.

This position is for a senior candidate responsible for overseeing the GM BUR team technology and operations.

This position will review junior staff changes for accuracy and provide direction and support during incident and problem reviews and be responsible for operational procedures, capacity reviews and trending.

This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team supporting a large server install base with growth opportunities into storage and or server support.

This position may require 24x7x365 on-call responsibilities.

Additional duties:
- Manage Networker, TSM, AVAMAR, and BackupExec backup infrastructure
- Perform OR and DR restore using Networker/Data Domain technology
- Resolve failure backup together with SA, DBA teams
- Performs other duties as required.
- Provide proactive recommendations for improving Backup operations and/or effective use of GM Backup solutions
- Participates in the design and operational execution of disaster recovery process as required.
- Experience with GM Storage/SAN technologies such as VMAX, DMX, VNX, Clariion, and/or Replication/migration type of software a nice plus
- Guide and oversee peer reviews for BUR related change management
- Participate in change reviews
- Develop and maintain release schedule


Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

• Proven ability in project management skills and ability to teach others
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
• Demonstrated ability in lead projects by coordinating the work of others
• Demonstrated ability in use of Microsoft Office software


Bachelor's degree in technical discipline preferred or equivalent experience required.


Minimum 10 years experience in the IT field
