About the role:

The Senior Financial Analyst-GMAM Investment Accounting (Traditional Investments) position is a unique and exciting opportunity to support both the pension asset accounting and reporting function for a Fortune 5 company and an asset management firm with over $60B in assets under management.

The position is located at GM Asset Management (“GMAM”), a wholly-owned GM subsidiary based in New York City, and reports to the GM Corporate Controller’s Organization in Detroit. This position is responsible for the oversight and reporting of accounting data related to cash and cash equivalents, equity, fixed income, and derivative investments held in GM sponsored pension plans in the U.S. and Canada. The Senior Financial Analyst will also assist GM Compensation and Benefits Accounting with preparing pension asset-related footnote disclosures in GM’s 10-K and compiling the financial statements and footnotes of the individual pension plans. Additionally, the position will also support related regulatory reporting activities managed by GMAM. This is a tremendous opportunity to gain broad exposure to asset and pension management accounting, finance, and operations. Other responsibilities include:

- Reviewing and reconciling data to trial balances

- Audit planning, coordination and management

- Reviewing accuracy and completeness of data submitted by accounting agents

- Coordinating the collection of data and preparing schedules for corporate 10-K and other related financial statements

- Monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc reporting and analysis

- Internal control maintenance and testing

- Vendor management

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training

- Completed CPA certification (Certified Public Accountant)

- 4 plus years of related business experience

- Solid experience working with ASC 820, Fair Value Measurements and Disclosures

- Experience in an investment and fund accounting setting

- Knowledge of equity, fixed income, derivative securities

Preferred Qualifications:

- MBA or MAcc degree

- Prior experience with financial reporting for employee benefit plans

- Prior experience with developing, maintaining, and testing internal controls over financial reporting
